Share a guest Wi-Fi code without exposing the wrong network

Maintained by RS Tools · Updated October 9, 2026

Start with an existing network

Configure a guest network in your router if that is appropriate and available. This generator does not create a network or set router permissions. Use only a network whose access you are authorized to share, and understand what connected guests can reach.

Use fictional data for a first test

Network name RS Guest Demo and password example-pass-2026 are demonstration values. They let you inspect the generated image without publishing your real password, but they do not connect to an actual network. Replace them with correct authorized details only for the real deliverable.

Enter the router details

Copy the exact network name and choose its security type. Protected networks require the password. Use the hidden-network flag only when it matches the router. Special characters in the fields are encoded by the tool, but a wrong character is still a wrong credential.

Verify actual joining

Generate the code, scan it with a permitted device and check whether that device joins the expected network. A successful scan alone is not enough. Device support can vary, so test the devices your visitors are likely to use before printing a large set of cards.

Control distribution

Treat the PNG, SVG and print like copies of the password. QR encoding is not encryption. Do not place the code in public screenshots unless that access is intentionally public. When the password or SSID changes, generate a replacement and remove outdated copies where possible.

Try and verify the workflow

Use a guest network rather than your main network when sharing access with visitors. The QR contains the password, so treat a printed copy like a credential.
